Since approximately 60 years the SOS-children’s village in Eisenberg in Pfalz is one amongst 18 SOS-children’s villages in Germany. Up to 60 parentless and orphaned children find a safe and caring home in one oft the 7 children’s village families and 3 living groups with fix psychological parents and longterm support. The educational work in the children’s village families and living groups aims for „offering emotional security and a safe place to grow up to the children. Burdens from the past are worked up – to the extent the children are able to get into it. Potentials and skills are discovered and fostered.“
Furthermore there is a day-care center with 60 places. Over there „Children from the children’s village and from the city meet, play together, parents and children’s village mothers get to know each other and set the cornerstone for a good Together during Schooldays.“
Children who for whatever reason can’t live at their parents, being it violence, abuse or death, find a new home in this village. There is attention to what makes up a good childhood and development: A stable Home, Education, Protection and Company through the Development to a self-determined and responsible Life as well as trustful and reliable relationships.
It is impressive, how often terms like „reliable“, „stable“, „trustful“ and „safe“ are used there – things giving children power and healthy confidence.
Future is also generated there. It’s exciting to be part of it.
