Since last week, we are a corporate member of the Friends and Supporters of Fulda University of Applied Sciences Association. The association aims to support the skilled workers of tomorrow during their higher education in Fulda and aims to inspire them to engage with the region, thus retaining their knowledge and potential here in the long term. Therefore, it has supported the university and its research and teaching bodies since its founding in 2012. Examples of the association's activities include the awarding of Germany Scholarships to selected students and the "Ideas Competition - the Business Idea of Tomorrow."
Fulda University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1974 with the departments of Social and Cultural Studies, Social Work, Social Pedagogy, and Business, and at that time had 750 students. In 2016/2017, it became the first university of applied sciences in Germany to be granted the right to award doctorates in four disciplines. In its anniversary year of 2024, Fulda University of Applied Sciences hosted nearly 9,000 young people studying in its eight departments in approximately 60 degree programs. With over 850 employees, the university is also one of Fulda's most important employers. Through partnerships with universities worldwide, it also maintains international networks. The university supports the German Rectors' Conference's "Cosmopolitan Universities against Xenophobia" campaign.
In March of this year, we had our first meeting with a member of the association's board and a representative of the department for dual study programs and Germany Scholarships, and we were impressed - impressed by the university's broad and continuously evolving educational offerings, the genuine commitment and enthusiasm of the two university representatives, and, during the subsequent tour of the grounds, by the atmosphere typical of every campus, which academic freedom creates, as well as by the series of art exhibits on the grounds, such as the "Curve of Oblivion."
The association's flyer quotes Benjamin Franklin: "An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest." We are pleased to be able to contribute to this and look forward to more.
