This week we joined the German Child Protection Association's Fulda District and Local Chapter. In a recent meeting with the board, we were given an insight into many activities for children.

The German Child Protection Association sees itself as a lobby for children and focuses on the needs of children and families based on the UN Convention on the Rights of Children. The quality of its work is ensured through ongoing training and continuing education of its volunteers, based on the principle of "Working together for the future of all children."

  • Parents' Hotline: For parents who are worried about their child or feel overwhelmed or helpless, specially trained counselors are available to answer questions about parenting, school problems, family crises, addiction, or internet dangers.

  • Children's and Youth Hotline: For children who are unhappy or just lost, this hotline is available to provide advice or even just listen to questions about stress with parents, friends, or classmates; bullying or scams online or in the classroom; anxiety, abuse, eating disorders, depression, or addiction.
  • At the "Treffpunkt Dalbergschule" (Dalberg School Meeting Point), the association offers afternoon care with various activities such as games and sports, crafts, and homework support. Two partnerships with other schools were added last year.
  • During school holidays children in grades one through six are also offered vacation care with games, museum visits, excursions, etc., Monday through Friday during their parents' working hours.
  • Targeted projects such as "BIG – Bunt is(s) gesund“ (Colorful is/eat healthy) and parent courses "Strong Parents - Strong Children" are also carried out.

All of this is provided by volunteer social workers, educators, and pedagogically trained staff – we are impressed and look forward to more.
