This week we joined the Environmental Center Fulda - Center for Sustainability, Horticulture and Animal Education e.V. as a member. The association has set itself the task of counteracting the destruction of the diversity of life on earth. In doing so, it is based on the 17 goals for sustainable development that the global community agreed on as part of AGENDA 2030 . The Environmental Center is the initiator and sponsor of various events, projects and measures that pursue them. It has made a name for itself as a partner for school and extracurricular education for children and young people in collaboration with educational institutions and as a training center for teachers. It offers a space for discussion and critical questioning in order to find good, sustainable solutions.
The offerings include, among other things, the ecological education learning workshop with various workshops on the topic of the environment and the sustainability school year, which we supported last year already. With the personnel and organizational support of the “Wirgarten” Fulda, a new concept of a zoo with species-appropriate and spacious keeping of the animals at “eye level” with the visitors is being promoted. The association operates various gardens on its own grounds with a focus on sustainable horticulture.
When I met with the management last Wednesday, I was impressed by the commitment and passion with which the variety of activities is carried out despite limited financial resources.
